Expand Student Government is Proposed for Next Year

By Panther Post Staff

On Thursday, February 28th, 2019, Felix and Noah laid out their proposal to change the Park Hill Student Council into a Student Government. The students created a Power Point titled, “Expanding Student Government”.

fullsizeoutput_d83The proposal’s biggest change would be to increase the number of student representatives from 8 to 36 students with 3 students coming from each classroom in grades 3 thru 5.  Their proposal is created around students voting for their class representatives and the school body voting for the four teacher-selected 5th grade president and vice president candidates.

Student Council members (Tihun, Avery O., Gabi, Sabrina, and Colette), as well as the Student Council facilitator, Meghan Wren, and Principal Ken Burdette attended the presentation. The Student Council members will take back the information they received to the other members to have a discussion on expanding student government next year.

No date was given regarding the decision to change; we will update you as soon as we know anything about changes to student government for school year 2019-2020.
